Last week we cut out a slit to block the agarose gel with a plexiglass barrier so that the carrier wouldn't leak. We only did this to one side and used masking tape on the other. The plexiglass was definitely a better solution to help keep the agarose inside the carrier. We had problems with the PCR machine because it wasn't set at a high enough voltage so we didn't get clean results but we will raise the voltage for testing in the future.

2a of the 21st century skills were used. The group worked with the mill and the pcr machine which were both incredibly new to everyone. We had to go through the proper operations of the equipment, safety, and general knowledge in order to use the machines effectively. We used the technology that was at our fingertips to create an end result.
