CSU Orthopedic Biomedical Research Lab
Intern
During the summer of 2016, I was fortunate enough to work with the OBRL along side professors, graduates, and undergraduates, and three high school interns. The OBRL was investigating the use of a light weight, sleeve-like technology to mend broken bones in place of traditional steel plates and/or screws. As part of my responsibilities, I was to remove part of the sheep's leg to evaluate the effectiveness of the device. Following torque testing of the bone segment, I entered the resulting data into a database.

The OBRL worked closely with the Veterinary Teaching Hospital to preform the above studies. The VTH would implant the devices into sheep's bones through a surgical process. I had the opportunity to watch numerous surgeries throughout the summer.

Final Presentation
At the conclusion of the Workforce Reediness Program, participants gave presentations about their summer internships.
