Girls in STEM

A Real Success

The girls in STEM project was an attempt to increase STEM interests among young girls. Our team, of 8 students, traveled to Preston Middle School to give a presentation on the STEM program at Fossil Ridge. Our intent was to let the students see how much fun a more technical curriculum could be. We described all the projects FRHS STEM students complete within their four years of high school. The presentation was a real success. Before our presentation, very few girls responded positively to the idea of participating in STEM. After our presentation, a majority of the girls said they could be interested in the program.
